Plant Journal Revisted with a New Addition Bean Greenhouse Activity

Image
Hello,  I cannot believe I uploaded my plant journal in 2012!!!  I have been using this plant journal with my students for 12 years!!! My students still get excited when they get their journal and investigate their plant growth.   For the past two years I have started the Bean Greenhouses where my students put a few beans in wet cotton balls, place them in a ziploc and we put them on the window and watch them grow.  This year I have created a quick journal for my students to observe their observations.  I always give 3 beans to each student because the ziploc is rather small for any more.  This year my students will be able to get their Bean Greenhouse journal, put down what day it is of growing and then colour in what stage they see their beans. They can also colour in the weather - sunny, partly sunny or cloudy.   Every year I do a living things unit and plant a radish seed with my students.  However, I have never felt the kids have had a great plant journal to keep all their notes.

Math Booklets for Number Sense and Operation Sense #1 to 10

Image
For my math year, we cover the numbers 1 to 10.  I always start my lessons with number videos for each number we are working on.  Then have my students do the following booklets that are in this package.  We also play lots of games for that number that we are working on.  This package has: Short Booklets #1-10 (I start each number unit with this booklet.  I get the students to draw me 1 picture of the different shapes.) Booklets #1-10 (This booklet is the main booklet we do throughout the number unit.  I do 2 pages each day with the students. ) Combination Booklets #1-10 (When we start addition, we complete these booklets together.  See the preview for explanation.) You can find this activity in my TPT store at the following link: Math Booklets #1-10 (Canadian spelling) Math Booklets #1-10 (American spelling) Enjoy! Kemble

Report Card Comments Grade Primary/Kindergarten

Image
Report card writing can be a very stressful time for teachers. You are still planning for your class, evaluating the students, photocopying work and many other tasks on top of getting ready to write report cards. I used to get overwhelmed at this task because it seemed like all the things I needed were in different places. I knew I needed to get myself organized so I wouldn't become so overwhelmed. I knew I needed everything to be in one folder and I knew I needed a type of document where I could see what I had written each term all in one place. It took a few years but this is what I have created for myself and I do find it much more stressfree when I am writing report cards now. This package includes the following: 1 - Learner Profile Comments folder - 1st term comments - 2nd term comments - 3rd term comments 2 - EAL Comments folder - EAL Comment Examples - EAL Comments with smart tags 3 – Language Arts Comments folder 1 – Speaking and Listening Comments 2 – Reading

Classroom Teacher Book: Monthly Blank Calendar, Student Contact Information, Parent Contact Communication Log, Staff Meeting Notes & Doodles, To Do List UPDATED!!!

Image
As an elementary classroom teacher, I am always looking for ways to help keep me organized. I wanted something that I could start out my school year with and have the few things I felt were important in one book. This is why I created this book.  I needed a calendar to put down any important dates I needed to remember.  I needed a quick glance parent contact# page.  I needed a place where I had all my students’ parents/guardians names, phone numbers and emails in one spot rather than go looking for them at the office or on my computer.  I needed pages where I could record my students marks so I could quickly have them in a meeting if asked for by admin. I needed a place to record how I communicated with parents and what was said and what needed to be done.  I needed a place for staff meeting notes which we usually have 2 per month. I realized I do like to doodle so I needed a place to doodle during staff meetings (this book has blank pages so I can doodle whatever I want). I needed a p

Mental Math Counting Google Slides

Online learning certainly threw a curve ball for all teachers and students.  It sent teachers scrambling to create activities to do with students over a Google Meet or Zoom meeting.  When we went to online learning this time, we only had a few days to switch and have all our activities ready for the students.   I knew I needed a quick math activity that I could show my students over Google Meet and they could use their white boards or blank notebook to show me their answer.   I would present these math slides where the students are shown a picture with a certain amount of objects and then I give them 3 different numbers that could be the answer (with one of the numbers being the correct answer).  The students put their answer down and shows it to me in the camera.  Once I have seen all the students answers, I clicked on the Google Slide and a check mark appears by the correct number. My students’ loved them.  We continued the activities when in person learning was back the following mo
