Summer 2016!!
Where did the time go? I cannot believe another school year has come and go and it's summer again. I say this every year. I don't know how some teachers keep up their blogs as I just couldn't. This year was especially busy as I was helping out in the office once a week, our principal was retiring so we were getting things made, working on surprises plus teaching!!! I am excited to put some final touches on some new things I created for the classroom this year that I felt really helped my students with their sight words.
I am also a Google Level One Educator!!
I am currently studying the units so I can take the exam to become a Google Level Two Educator. My school has really put a tremendous effort in to bringing in technology and using it properly for the students. I used some great apps in the classroom and am excited to share those with you. I am a Samsung user (android) and it was really exciting to see my students embrace the apps and know how to use them. I did have a Chrome Cast in my classroom which allowed me to cast the app to the screen and show my students how to use the app. This was really helpful and I would always partner my students up so they would help each other when using one of the apps.
I was very fortunate to be invited to be a presenter at my school board's first Innovation Day. I did two session: QR codes in the classroom and Using Google Forms for assessment. That's me below in my first session.
I was lucky enough to be one of eight teachers that won $1000.00 towards technology in my classroom. I was able to get 7 Samsung Tab 3 tablets.
It was like Christmas when they arrived and the kids were so excited. They were perfect gor little primaries. I ended up searching ebay and got a few more of the same tablets used and factory reset for good prices. The kids treated them like gold. However, I do believe that there is a time and place for technology and the kids understood that the tablets were not for everyday.
Well, I must get back to putting the final touches on some of the new activities I did this year. I will update again soon.
Enjoy!
