USB Memory Sticks

Image
I don't know about you but I have more than one memory stick that I have my files on and I always seem to be searching through my bags for them so I needed something to keep them all in one place and be safe traveling in my bag.  I had this can that I really liked and kept from a few years ago.  It had lip smackers in them with different flavours (yum!).  I finally thought, maybe I could put my memory sticks inside this cute little can.  AND they do!  So now I can find all my memory sticks in one place. Not sure if any of you see my Hello Kitty memory sticks...LOVE THEM!! Enjoy! Kemble :-)

New Bag for September

Image
Last year I bought a Recollections bag from Michaels and it was a great bag for school. Here are a few shots of the bag.  I really liked how it had the mesh on the side so I  could put my water bottles in them.  I liked the little pockets on the front and back and there was lots of space inside. I was in Michael's on the weekend and saw a new Recollections bag that seemed sturdier and had space for my laptop and files.  Here are a few pictures of my new bag. The sides zip down if you want to expand the file system to put more into those pockets. I would love to know what kind of teacher bags everyone else uses.  As teachers, I think we are always on the look out for the ultimate bag or system.   Enjoy! Kemble :-)

Day 1 of Classroom Set

Image
I was finally able to get into school today to start to set up my classroom.  As I promised during Teacher Week 2013, here are some pictures of my classroom.   Here is what my classroom looked like when I turned on the lights. I always set up my computers first because it feels good to accomplish something so early in the day when you are faced with unpacking all the other stuff!! Next, I rearranged my tables into groups of tables (either 4 or 5 to a group).     Next, I moved towards my desk to organize the areas and stuff around my desk.  And then to my desk.  This will probably be the only time my desk will be this clean.  Though, keeping my desk clean is one of my goals this year so I am thinking about taking a picture of my desk either every day after school before I leave or every Friday.   I keep my hole puncher, Hello Kitty calculator (I have a little thing with Hello Kitty), stapler, tape dispenser, 2 pencil holders (from Dol

Whole Brain Teaching New Posters

Image
I was looking at other teacher websites who use Whole Brain Teaching and came across Nicole's site... http://wholebrainteachingwithstyle.blogspot.ca/ .   She shared her amazing posters for Whole Brain Teaching rules that she had made with a tropical theme.  I just fell in love with the circle posters and her posters inspired me to change my Whole Brain Teaching posters.   Recently, I posted my other WBT posters that I made but with the word "Expectation" instead of "Rule" and I do love those too BUT I decided to try to make the circle posters using some of the backgrounds I have found on another awesome site, mycutegraphics.com . I created circle posters for my classroom expectations (with pictures and without pictures).  I also included circle posters with the WBT rules on them (with pictures and without pictures).  You can download them here or go to my TpT store: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Whole-Brain-T

Teacher Week 2013 Teacher Tips

Image
Well, this is the last day of Teacher Week 2013 and it has been so much fun participating and reading all the blog entries.   I just signed up for Reminde101 and just sent an e-mail to some other teachers about it.  I am so excited to try it out this year as one way to communicate with my parents.  Thanks for the tip!!  Here are some of my tips.. Snow Suits and Recess One teacher tip I have is for teachers who teach where it snows and with little ones.  Recess was always a struggle.  Some of the little ones devour their food, others are the slowest eaters and then they have to put on their snow suits.  By the time, I finished helping the last student get ready for outside, there was about 2 minutes left of recess.  One day I finally had enough and asked the kids to go to the washroom first, then put their boots and snow pants on and then eat their snacks.  The kids never mind sitting with their boots and snow pants on because by the time it is recess, their boots and snow pants a

Teacher Week 2013 Classroom Management

Image
Hi everyone,  I have to say, I'm really enjoying this Teacher Week 2013. It's my first time participating in something like this.  Now on to classroom management. All schools in the Halifax Regional School Board uses Positive Effective Behaviour Supports (PEBS).  This is a school-wide system of support that includes proactive strategies for defining, teaching and supporting appropriate student behaviours.  It looks at what our students can do and are doing rather than what they shouldn't do and how we as adults interact with them.  Each student receives a PEBS matrix (a gird) to take home and review with their parents and a PEBS matrix is up in every classroom and teachers routinely refer to the PEBS matrix. We also use Gems with the whole school.  Gems are awarded to students who demonstrate positive behaviours as outlined in the PEBS matrix.  Each class has their own jar into which students deposit gems as they receive them.  Each class decides on a class goal
