My Christmas Book

Image
Here is a book I do every year.  My students become the illustrators and they take the book home for Christmas to read to their moms and dads.  Print out the sheets, photocopy and staple together.  I put the sheets between two pieces of red construction paper and glue Santa on the front of the red cover.  Have the students colour Santa and give the kids cotton balls to cover Santa’s beard.  On each page, the students illustrate each sentence.  The last page the kids draw a box that has been opened.  Give them one of the toy soldiers and a strip of construction paper and fold it back and forth so the toy soldier pops up.  On the page that has the line “Here is the snow that covers the town” I give the students cotton balls when they have finished drawing to cover the page like it is snowing. You can download it now for free in my TeachersNotebook at the following link: http://www.teachersnotebook.com/product/kemble_flynn/my-christmas-book or in my TpT store at the follow

Santa Phonics Fun

Image
Christmas time is so busy in the classroom and the kids get so distracted at this time of year.  So I knew I had to create some new centers that would align with my outcomes but would be fun for the kids too.  So next week the kids will be doing Santa Phonics Fun during literacy centers.  Here are a few pictures of what is needed: So I have printed out my Santa pictures and grabbed some craft sticks.  I printed out letter labels to put them on the bottom of the craft sticks.  I have also used Velcro to attach the pictures so I can switch the pictures out. I like using the flora foam that you can get at the dollar store but you could also use a container of beans or rice and place the stick down to cover the letter and then decide if the students will be listening for the beginning sound, middle sound or ending sound. This package is available in my TPT store at the following link: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Santa-Phonics-Fun or in my TeachersN
