Some additions to my Whole Brain Teaching Polka Dot Circle Posters

Image
I actually do love when other teachers e-mail me and ask me to add some more to my products because sometimes I make something and then move on from it when there can be additions to it....fresh eyes are always needed.  I received an e-mail asking if I could add to my Whole Brain Teaching Polka Dot Circle Posters with this "Be safe, be kind, be honest."  So I did add this to the posters.  I use the word expectation but others do use the word rule so I made posters with both on them.  You can find them in my TPT store at: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Whole-Brain-Teaching-Polka-Dot-Circle-Posters-Additions-FREEBIE-1357763 Enjoy! Teacher Week 2013 Classroom Management

Image
Hi everyone,  I have to say, I'm really enjoying this Teacher Week 2013. It's my first time participating in something like this.  Now on to classroom management. All schools in the Halifax Regional School Board uses Positive Effective Behaviour Supports (PEBS).  This is a school-wide system of support that includes proactive strategies for defining, teaching and supporting appropriate student behaviours.  It looks at what our students can do and are doing rather than what they shouldn't do and how we as adults interact with them.  Each student receives a PEBS matrix (a gird) to take home and review with their parents and a PEBS matrix is up in every classroom and teachers routinely refer to the PEBS matrix. We also use Gems with the whole school.  Gems are awarded to students who demonstrate positive behaviours as outlined in the PEBS matrix.  Each class has their own jar into which students deposit gems as they receive them.  Each class decides on a class goal

Whole Brain Teaching

I'm working on a few things such as my sub binder and I was writing my little blurb about the systems I use in my classroom and that reminded me I needed to change one of my posters for that system which is Whole Brain Teaching.  I came across Whole Brain Teaching (WBT) last summer and I really liked it.  I picked a few things out of WBT to really master this past year and I will be adding on this year.  If you have not heard about WBT, please visit their site which has loads of information.  Check out the site at  http://www.wholebrainteaching.com/ . I love the rules because they are really simple and there are only 5; however, I do not like the word "rules".  A principal I had a few years back did not like the word either and she always said the rules were really expectations...students were expected to do them.  So I am making my new posters with WBT "rules" on them with the title of expectation instead of rules.  I thought I would share them.  Here are pic

Must Have Teacher Forms - Beginning of the Year

Image
I can't believe it's August and I don't really want to say this or think this but school is just around the corner.  So I'm trying to get a list together of what I need to get done when I go in to set up my classroom up and my classroom forms are on the top of the list to get organized.  I have my excel spreadsheets ready so when I get my class list I can just type the students names in.  The class forms I keep on the spreadsheet are as follows: - Supply Money Collected - Where Do Students Go - Forms Passed in - Hot Lunch Order - 100th day trail mix tracker (this is for the 100th day and I keep track of what student is bringing in what treat) - Special Spot (I have a bench in my classroom that a student gets to sit on each day and invite a friend...I use this form to keep track of the date each student sits on the bench.  I print this form out and and print in the dates.) - Reading Levels - Sharing News (I get 2 students to share news everyday and this form help
