Updated Mimio Math Calendars for 2016-2017

Image
I have updated my Mimio calendars for the upcoming school year.  I LOVED using this math calendar this past year as did my students.  I actually had a math calendar teacher who would get up and change everything on the mimio calendar and then lead the rest of the students in the calendar routine.  The kids loved it.  I then had a different student do the math pattern for that day.  I have added a new slide for the Days in School which has ten frames on it too. I am excited to see how my new little ones will take to the ten frames being added.   Monthly Math Calendar for Mimio (American) REVISED 2016-2017 Link: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Monthly-Math-Calendar-for-Mimio-American-REVISED-2016-2017-1980227 Monthly Math Calendar for Mimio (Canadian) REVISED 2016-2017 https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Monthly-Math-Calendar-for-Mimio-Canadian-REVISED-2016-2017-1980211 Enjoy! Mimio Scrambled Sight Word Puzzles

Image
I started to do sight word puzzles in January with my students every Monday, Wednesday and Friday during our morning meeting.  My students would bring a white board, marker and eraser down to our meeting area and would record their answers on the white board.  The first set of puzzles I did were to scramble the sight words I had already introduced.  I scrambled six sight words for Monday, six for Wednesday and six for Friday.  I would show the scrambled word and give the students a few minutes to try to figure out what sight word it was.  They would then write their “guess” on their recording sheet and then I would show them the answer to see if they got it right.  I would then move on to the next word  and do the same thing for the next five words.  I would give students some hints if I saw them struggling or point out some letter patters (ie., if you see to ee’s they may go together).  The students really looked forward to the puzzles and loved the challenge.  Once we have done the s

Daily Sight Word Work with Mimio and PowerPoint

Last year I started using my Mimio Bar in my classroom all the time and it totally changed my teaching and the excitement in my students.  One of my favourite things I did last year and continued this year was my weekly sight word work in my morning meeting.  When my students come in first thing in the morning, their Morning Calendar duotang is on their desk and they have to colour in the day and weather.  Then they come down to the meeting area for our morning meeting.  My morning meeting consists of one student being allowed to sit on the bench and invite another student to be on the bench with them, 2 students share news with the class, we read the morning message I have written to the students, we do 2 poems weekly and weekly sight word work.   I introduce 4 new sight words per week and work on those words all week with different activities including this mimio activity.  Because the students have been sitting for a bit for the morning meeting, when we get to the word work, they

French Math Calendar for the Mimio

I have talked about how I changed schools last year but my new school was still a duel track school with both the English and French Immersion stream.  My new next door neighbour was one of the Grade 1 French Immersion teachers and I helped her start to use the Mimio in her classroom.  She loved the math calendar I created for the mimio and asked me if I could do one for her class but in French.  I did  and she helped me with some of the phrases I needed such as "Yesterday was", "Today is", etc.  So I just finished making my mimio math calendars for next year and have put those in my TPT store, I have now finished the French version of the math calendars.   You can find the French Monthly Math Calendar for Mimio (Canadian) in my TPT store at the following link: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/FRENCH-Monthly-Math-Calendar-for-Mimio-Canadian-1982341 Enjoy! Math Calendar and the Mimio

I had purchased my own mimio about 2 years ago on ebay for a great price.  It’s one of the older models but still works the same way as the newer ones it just doesn’t look as pretty.  I wasn’t able to use it as my old classroom didn’t have an LCD that was mounted and the students got really frustrated trying to use it with all the shadows that were happening so I put it away.  This year I moved to a new school and new classroom and an LCD was mounted!!!!  I started using the mimio slowly as I started to learn how to do things on it.  For my math routine, I had purchased a lovely math calendar that the students loved using and that we always did a pattern on.   I wanted to try to have the same type of calendar that the students were used to put up on the mimio.   I was able to take advantage of creating new date cards so that every month had a pattern on them and I noticed by the time I got to the pattern unit in math, my students were awesome at patterning because we had b
