New Daily 5 I-chart posters

Image
So I have been working on making new Daily 5 I-chart posters this weekend before school starts back tomorrow.  I was also excited to take pictures of them with my new camera!!!  I love using labels so I printed out all the labels that I needed and cut them out then just stuck them on.  As you can see, I did NOT print out enough as I was short one Students label.   I'm taking them to school tomorrow and laminating them so I can use them every year.  I will take pictures of them up in the classroom once I have finished. Enjoy! Kemble :-) PS - Do you think the pictures look better? PPS - Click here to get the labels I printed out for the posters above.  I use full size labels so I can just cut and stick on.

Welcome 2014

Happy New Year to everyone!  I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful night.  I can and can't believe my last post was in November.  We are only in school a few weeks in December but it is such a busy time for all teachers.  I normally don't make New Year's Resolutions but one that I will make is that my Friday desk project will be back on as I am excited to be using my new Samsung camera that I received for Christmas!!! Now I hope my pictures I take of the classroom and the things I would like to share come out a little better.  Of course, I have to figure out how to use it now!! I know a lot of teachers have iPads in their classroom but last year my brother and father bought me the Samsung Note 10.1 tablet which I LOVE!!!  And one more resolution is that I will be incorporating this more into my daily life in the classroom.  The s-pen is pure genius!!!  I use my tablet at all my meetings now to take all my notes but haven't truly utilized it in the classroom t

Note of appreciation

I hope everyone will have a fantastic 2014 but I just want to give a big thanks to another teacher who purchased my Bookbuddies package on TPT ( http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Book-Buddy-Recording-Assessment-Sheets-226322 ).  She sent me an awesome note on January 31, 2013 which really made my night!!!  So I thought I would share it....here goes... I don't have a question, but did want to let you know that this product has been AWESOME! The fifth grade teacher and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how these sheets have given the older students a sense of responsibility about reading with my 2nd graders! No more crazy antics and loud noise... now, we enjoy watching the interaction between the two classes. THIS is what Book Buddies is supposed to be like. In fact, we've continued meeting with our BBs even during the holidays, when others were "taking a break." I have a feeling you will have many more teachers interested in this product for next year. I cannot thank you

Rainbow Writing

Over the break I read a great book...The Next Step in Guided Reading by Jan Richardson. This book was so easy to read and really takes you through the guided reading process for all levels of students.  One idea that I know other teachers know about is rainbow writing. That got me to thinking on how I get my students to do rainbow writing.  So I revamped my rainbow writing activity so I could make booklets for my students to have during literacy centers.   1 – Full Booklet with 2 different sight words per page 2 – Half Booklet with one sight word per page (to save paper) 3 – Full Booklet with 2 different traceable sight words per page 4 -  Full Booklet with 4 different sight words per page 5 – Half Booklet with one traceable sight word per page (to save paper) 6 – Traceable sight word cards (2 per page) which can be double-sided and laminated You can find the products in my TPT store at the following links: http://www.teacherspayt
