Morning Calendar Work for French Immersion

I still work in a dual track school with English and French Immersion programs (I teach English) and some of my colleagues on the French side really liked my Morning Calendar routine/duotang (for a refresher on my Morning Calendar routine go to  http://primaryflynn.blogspot.ca/search/label/Morning%20Calendar%20Work ).  This year I worked on creating the same Morning Calendar that I use but in French.  And it is now complete.  I like to create things that last for a bit so my Morning Calendar is always for 4 years up to a leap year so I don't forget the leap year.   I have now add the Morning Calendar for French Immersion in my TPT store at the following link: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Morning-Calendar-Work-for-French-Immersion-2633788 Enjoy! Kemble :-)

Update on Morning Calendar

Well, school has begun and Friday was day 8!!  I have 28 little primaries and on the first day of school it rained so it was very hectic!!!  Things are just starting to settle down and we are getting into the routines.  One of the routines my students complete every morning is their Morning Calendar work.  I have taken some pictures so you can see how it works in my class.  I have a blank calendar that I put my little calendar accents up and I try to have calendar accents that will create a pattern, especially with colour.  I use these apple calendar accents because it gives me an ABC pattern and a red, green and yellow pattern the kids can see. So I always have the calendar accents up for the kids before they come in that morning.  So this was Thursday and I had the 13th up and the kids knew to look for the last apple and the number 13.  Then they open up their Calendar Work duotangs (which are already on their desks) and trace the number 13 with their red crayon and then colou

Setting up my classroom - part 2

I have two chalkboards in my classroom.  The teacher before me had put up tape that had left tape marks so last year I covered one of the boards with the white laminate to use for my word wall.  This year I covered the other chalkboard where I put up my weather graph and calendar work pictures for my students. So on this board I put up a calendar with a pattern on it.  I have apples for the month of September.  The apples create an A, B, C pattern.   I put the same morning calendar sheets up that my students have in their morning calendar work duotang.  I enlarge them on the photocopier (129%) and I always have the pattern done before the students come in so they can check their work.   I will post more pictures next week when I actually have the colour in each picture.  The first few days, I do the calendar with the students so I don't have the patterns in yet.

Morning Calendar Work

Every teacher knows how busy it is first thing in the morning when the students just come in.  You've got to collect notes, check their BEE binders or school pouches, collect money, deal with any behaviour issues that may come up, a parent wants to talk to you.  I find having a routine that the kids know how to do works really well and gives me a little time to do everything I need to do.   Routine: 1 - Before the students come in I hand out their Morning Calendar duotangs on each student's desk.   2 - I make sure I colour in the day on the calendar and theme picture so it's done before the kids come in the classroom. 3 - I use a B.E.E. binder system in my classroom (which I LOVE) so first thing in the morning the kids come in and open up to the red folder and wait for me to come and see if I have to collect anything from them.   4 - Then I get them to change their books (they take 2 books to take home every night) and put their B.E.E. binder on the B.E.E. binder sh
