For my math year, we cover the numbers 1 to 10.  I always start my lessons with number videos for each number we are working on.  Then have my students do the following booklets that are in this package.  We also play lots of games for that number that we are working on.  This package has: Short Booklets #1-10 (I start each number unit with this booklet.  I get the students to draw me 1 picture of the different shapes.) Math Videos (Randome Die rolls, Combination Dice rolls and Finger Counting random rolls)

Online learning created many challenges for all teachers.  I teach grade Primary and for math, we use a lot of hands on materials such as counters and dice.  When my students had to move to online learning from home, it created a challenge regarding dice for some of the activities the kids would be doing.  I needed to come up with an idea that would allow the students to “roll” a die or dice for the various activities they would be doing online and that it had to be in the same spot as the activity.  I didn’t want my students to have to go to another site to “roll” a die or dice.   I created these videos that have virtual die or dice and I put the die and/or dice in random orders.  I made the videos around 5 minutes. Then I inserted the videos into the Google Slide activities.  Below is a video explaining how I used the videos with one of my online activity. My Number Monster Book Numbers 1 to 10 Google Slides for Online Learning

Image
My students love doing this booklet on paper.  But when we had to go to online learning, I wanted to try to recreate this as much as I could.  My students draw their number monster on paper but also did one on Google Slides. When I introduce a number, my students do a number monster to that number.   For example, if I have introduced the number 2, their number 2 monster has to have 2 eyes, 2 noses, 2 mouths, 2 ears, 2 arms and 2 legs.   By the end of the year, they will have number monsters from 1 to 10. I have created number monster slides for the numbers 1 to 10.  I have created 3 sets: black and white monsters, coloured in monsters and faux fur coloured in monsters.  You can pick which ones you will assign.  I have also included slides with different eyes, mouths, noses, ears, arms and legs. I have included some on the slides but if you want to put different ones you can. You can find this package in my TPT shop at the following link: My Number Monster Book Numbers 1 to 10 E

Number Sense Math Slides

I have created number sense slides with monthly themes.   The student looks at the number in the corner and puts down that many objects into the picture background. They are very simple slides for your students to complete. Thanksgiving Day Math Game

Image
Last year for Thanksgiving, I wanted a game that the kids could easily play and have fun.  So I bought a big styrofoam ball and a bag of feathers from Dollarama and printed out a picture of a turkey.  I taped the turkey on the front and stuck the feathers in.  The students had to take turns rolling a die and take that amount of feathers out of the turkey.  Once all the feathers were gone, the students had to count how many feathers they each had and the student with the most feathers won.  Then the students placed the feathers back into the turkey and played again.   So this year, I decided to take this idea one step further and created feathers (which I laminated) with numbers and pictures of either one die or two dice.  And the game pretty much stays the same in that kids take turns rolling either one die or two dice and either take that amount of feathers or take the feather with that number/die/dice on it.  I hot glue gunned Q-tips on the back of each feather so they would
