My Number Monster Book Numbers 1 to 10 Google Slides for Online Learning

Image
My students love doing this booklet on paper.  But when we had to go to online learning, I wanted to try to recreate this as much as I could.  My students draw their number monster on paper but also did one on Google Slides. When I introduce a number, my students do a number monster to that number.   For example, if I have introduced the number 2, their number 2 monster has to have 2 eyes, 2 noses, 2 mouths, 2 ears, 2 arms and 2 legs.   By the end of the year, they will have number monsters from 1 to 10. I have created number monster slides for the numbers 1 to 10.  I have created 3 sets: black and white monsters, coloured in monsters and faux fur coloured in monsters.  You can pick which ones you will assign.  I have also included slides with different eyes, mouths, noses, ears, arms and legs. I have included some on the slides but if you want to put different ones you can. You can find this package in my TPT shop at the following link: My Number Monster Book Numbers 1 to 10 E

Concentration of Combinations of 5 up to 10

Image
Hello again, My students play concentration combinations in the classroom.  I have them printed on different coloured paper.  For example, for combinations of 5, they pick a blue card then a yellow card to see if the combination makes 5.  If it does, they keep the combination, if it doesn’t they flip the cards back over in the same spot and then their partner goes.  When we went to online learning, I tried to recreate some of the activities my students know how to do.   I have the same cards my students use in the classroom but just had to put coverings over them – blue and yellow.   My students learned to pick a blue covering and move it to the side to reveal the cards underneath and then pick a yellow cards and move it to the side to reveal the card underneath.   If the bottom cards made a combination of 5, they would cut the blue and yellow covering.   If they did not make a combination of 5, they would move the blue and yellow covering back and their partner could go ne

Number Sense Math Slides

I have created number sense slides with monthly themes.   The student looks at the number in the corner and puts down that many objects into the picture background. They are very simple slides for your students to complete. 100 Chart Fill in the Missing Numbers Google Slides

Image
As I explore and learn more about what Google Apps such as Google Slides can do, I get really excited for my students.  Google Slides now gives me another tool to help me  differentiate my student's learning and another assessment tool.  I have realized Google Slides is excellent for creating various math activities.  One such activity is using the 100 chart in sections and creating Fill in the Missing numbers activities for the students.     These slides would be great for math centers or partner work on a Chromebook.   This package includes the following: - 100 Chart Fill in the Missing Numbers Blank Slides ( 20 slides with 2 different designs on each for you to add your own numbers) - 100 Chart Fill in the Missing Numbers Set 1 (25 slides with 2 different sections on each for students to solve) - 100 Chart Fill in the Missing Numbers Set 2 (25 slides with 2 different sections on each for students to solve ) - 100 Chart Fill in t

A Variety of Puzzles Google Slides Activity

Image
My students love puzzles so I created these various puzzles to challenge them but also to help my students get used to using the Chromebooks.  I assigned a few puzzles first with the bookbuddies so the older students could help show the younger students how to use the mouse pad and/or the keyboard arrows.  Once my students got used to the puzzles, I assigned more puzzles individually through Google Classroom. You can find this activity in my TPT store at the following link: A Variety of Puzzles for Google Slides Enjoy! Kemble :-)

Spelling Activity

Image
My students love spelling on the magnetic white board with the foam letters.  They know that the blue letters are consonants and the red letters are vowels and the purple “y” can be a consonant or a vowel.  I wanted to create a book buddy spelling activity on the Chromebooks that used letters that looked like our magnetic letters the kids use.  You can find this activity in my TPT store at the following link: Let's Spell: Building Words with Letters Enjoy! It Begins with Phonic Mats using Google Slides

Image
I wanted to create a phonics sorting activity that was paperless.  So I created the mat backgrounds that don’t move and then found developmental sequence for speech sounds for early, mid and late emerging speech sounds.  I created the blank slides first and then populated the slides with 4 -6 pictures of each comparing sound.  Each slide compares 2 speech sounds.  I have my students say the picture name out loud and try to hear that first sound and then move that picture under the correct letter. I created this activity to do with my bookbuddies but as I discovered my students wanted to do it outside of the bookbuddies so I would assign a few slides on my Google classroom each tech/center time. You can find this activity in my TPT store at the following link: It Begins with Phonic Mats Enjoy! Kemble :-)

Syllables

Image
I find syllables are very tricky to teach the Grade Primaries.  I used to teach syllables by clapping them out but I know like to teach syllables by having my students place their hand under their chin and then say the word.  Each time their mouth goes down, it is counted as one syllable.  I created a few worksheets for my students to practice counting syllables and then I created some Google slides.  I assigned those slides to our Google classroom and the kids grabbed the assignment and continued their syllable work.  It actually reinforced the worksheets and I discovered this group of students really took to putting their hand under their chins. You can find this activity in my TPT store at the following link: Syllables - How Many?

Word Search Puzzles in Google Sheets

Image
I have tablets in my classroom but I also have a few Chromebooks and have been getting my little primary students on them and I am finding they are really enjoying them and at times would rather go on the Chromebooks than the tablets.  So I have started to create a few activities for my students.   One of the activities they love and were asking for were more word searches.  I had some at Christmas time on paper and the class loved them. BUT all schools have a paper budget and I didn't want to print out word searches galore.  I know I could print and laminate word searches but that still means more paper and then more laminate. I knew I could use Google Sheets to create word searches.  And my students love them.  I have put 10 puzzles within one Google Sheet so the students are going to many Google Sheets.  The students just have to click on the next tab to get to the next puzzle.  I didn't want to overwhelm my students so I made each puzzle a 6x6 gride where they had to f
