Lost Tooth

Image
When a student looses a tooth in my class I give them a label I made up and they wear it all day and wear it home.  This way when the student is walking in the hallways or playing outside, everyone can see they lost a tooth and ask them about it.  The students love it!! I use Avery 8923 labels and I do have a colour printer.  Here is the link to the file: Lost Tooth labels

I always kept loosing my tape!!

Image
I don't know about any other teacher, but I would always loose my tape.  I would use it and put it down somewhere in the class and then when I needed it later, I couldn't find it and forgot where I put it.  So one day when I had finished my Pringles can of chips (yes, they were good!!), I just put the can on my desk.  It sat there for about 2 days and I kept looking at it and thinking, could I use this can for something (as I know all teachers look at everything and think how can I use it)?  One of the masking tapes was right beside it and I thought, could this go around the can?  And the answer, YES!!!  After that, I never misplaced any of my tape and my tape is kept in one place.  I decided to paint it and put the words TAPE on it and TAPE HERE on the top.  Now my painting technique is not the best but I'm sure anyone else would be able to do a better paint job and print the words a little nicer.  Here's to keeping your tape in once place. ...

Morning Calendar Work

Image
Every teacher knows how busy it is first thing in the morning when the students just come in.  You've got to collect notes, check their BEE binders or school pouches, collect money, deal with any behaviour issues that may come up, a parent wants to talk to you.  I find having a routine that the kids know how to do works really well and gives me a little time to do everything I need to do.   Routine: 1 - Before the students come in I hand out their Morning Calendar duotangs on each student's desk.   2 - I make sure I colour in the day on the calendar and theme picture so it's done before the kids come in the classroom. 3 - I use a B.E.E. binder system in my classroom (which I LOVE) so first thing in the morning the kids come in and open up to the red folder and wait for me to come and see if I have to collect anything from them.   4 - Then I get them to change their books (they take 2 books to take home every night) and put their B.E.E. binder on the B.E....

Must Have Teacher Forms - Beginning of the Year

Image
I can't believe it's August and I don't really want to say this or think this but school is just around the corner.  So I'm trying to get a list together of what I need to get done when I go in to set up my classroom up and my classroom forms are on the top of the list to get organized.  I have my excel spreadsheets ready so when I get my class list I can just type the students names in.  The class forms I keep on the spreadsheet are as follows: - Supply Money Collected - Where Do Students Go - Forms Passed in - Hot Lunch Order - 100th day trail mix tracker (this is for the 100th day and I keep track of what student is bringing in what treat) - Special Spot (I have a bench in my classroom that a student gets to sit on each day and invite a friend...I use this form to keep track of the date each student sits on the bench.  I print this form out and and print in the dates.) - Reading Levels - Sharing News (I get 2 students to share news everyday and this form h...

Mini Office Portable Themed Word Walls

Image
I have been using mini offices now for the past 3 or 4 years and I love them!!!  Two years ago I really wanted to incorporate theme words but I just didn't know how to do it.  Last year I was going to use clear plastic protective sleeve and glue/tape it to the mini office.  But then I had an idea!!!  I created a table in powerpoint with words I thought the kids would want to use in their writing and then I had the idea that I could double side each page and put themes together such as Fall/Autumn Words and Halloween Words.  Then I realized I could laminate each one so I could re-use them each year and I put Velcro in the corners so they would attach to the mini office and the kids could change their word wall when they wanted.  I keep the themed word walls where the kids can get them anytime they need a word.   The themes I have made so far include: - School & More School words - Pet words - Autumn words - Halloween words - Chris...

Memory Book Keepsake

Image
I created this memory book for the end of school last year but I have revised and added to this package.  This book can now be started at the beginning of the year and can be worked on monthly to capture what the students are doing.  This memory book will give the students and parents a complete look at the year and what was learned.   This package includes a 85 page memory book that the kids can use to record memories each month and would make a great end of the year keepsake for parents. I have included both a black and white cover page and a colour cover page and have included pages with either Canadian spellings or American spellings. I have also included pages with lines to help primary/kindergarten students and pages with lines for grade one and grade two students.   This memory book can be purchased at my TeachersNotebook shop at http://www.teachersnotebook.com/product/kemble_flynn/memory-book-keepsake-revised OR at my TP...
