Day 1 of Classroom Set
I was finally able to get into school today to start to set up my classroom. As I promised during Teacher Week 2013, here are some pictures of my classroom.
Here is what my classroom looked like when I turned on the lights.
I always set up my computers first because it feels good to accomplish something so early in the day when you are faced with unpacking all the other stuff!!
Next, I rearranged my tables into groups of tables (either 4 or 5 to a group).
Next, I moved towards my desk to organize the areas and stuff around my desk.
And then to my desk. This will probably be the only time my desk will be this clean. Though, keeping my desk clean is one of my goals this year so I am thinking about taking a picture of my desk either every day after school before I leave or every Friday.
I keep my hole puncher, Hello Kitty calculator (I have a little thing with Hello Kitty), stapler, tape dispenser, 2 pencil holders (from Dollarama), a picture of me with 2 of my students that I was given as a gift about 8 years ago, some Smurf figurines, my lovely tape holder (pringles can), some stampers and a desk top file.
Oh, I also have some post it notes to the side and a glue stick, white out and some more tape.
I have a large binder where I keep my lesson plans and other important forms I need for the year. As you can see, I decorated my binder with some Hello Kitty stickers that always make me smile.

Here is the final look of my desk. This is how it should look at the end of every day before I leave. I just laughed out loud...did you?
I love these cabinets from Michaels. I have them behind my desk on top of a table. Last year, I put papers in them to correct and put in duotangs. However, for this year I have decided to my subject lesson plans in each slot. The top slot has my 2 binders with my math lessons I made for the new math curriculum this year. The slot below has my reading workshop lessons. The slot below has my sight word lessons. On the other side, I have my science lessons, social studies and health. (I don't have them all filled in yet). I thought this would keep me organized and be very easy for a substitute to find the lessons.
Here is a view of behind my desk. This was what it looked like first thing in the morning.
This is my book shelf behind my desk which is AWESOME!! I need to organize it better though.
And here is another great cart from Michael's where I put my day's work in. I have drawers labelled: Monday's Work, Tuesday's Work, Wednesday's Work, Thursday's Work, Friday's work. I just pull out the drawer I need for the day and put that on my desk. The other drawers will hold the photocopies I need for the following weeks.
I'm back in the classroom tomorrow morning so more shots to come.
Enjoy!
Kemble :-)
